is not to say with the atheist “oh, that’s just life,” but something inside us instinctively wants to cry out “no!” And the Bible says that cry, that instinct, that reaction is normal and natural and God-given. Evil, suffering, pain, sickness, death—they are not the way it was intended to be. The Bible thus begins very realistically by naming evil as “evil.” Evil exists.
